A project that carries legacy.

Help me preserve the stories of those who built, nurtured, and shaped the land for future generations.

Hi, I’m Rebecca du Toit.

Photographer | Farmer | Story Collector | Pretoria, Gauteng

After losing my grandparents, I realised how quickly stories can disappear, and questions we never knew to ask would never be answered.

This project was born from a desire to photograph and preserve the faces, memories, and wisdom of the people who have spent their lives building something meaningful, creating a legacy that future generations can hold onto.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You’ll take part in a professional photo session aimed at capturing natural and meaningful portraits. Alongside your images, you’ll share your story either by writing it yourself or through a relaxed interview where we can put your thoughts and memories into words together. Your portrait and story will then be featured in the coffee table book, creating a personal keepsake and allowing you to become part of a project that celebrates the people and stories behind farming.

  • This project will develop naturally over time, with publication dependent on gathering the right mix of stories, faces, and experiences.

  • While stepping into the world of farming, I found myself captivated by the faces I met at auctions. I realised every wrinkle, smile, and weathered hand held decades of stories.

This book is about preserving people's stories before they disappear. It's about creating something that families can treasure forever — a collection of faces, memories, wisdom, humour, and lives well lived.

  • Absolutely — that would be wonderful. If you know someone whose story deserves to be shared, you can either send them the website link directly or fill in the form on their behalf and pass along their information. I’d love to connect with them.
